Congenital thymic aplasia and thymus transplantation

Description

Graham Davies will talk about the allogeneic thymus transplantation programme at GOSH and present data on outcomes after thymus transplantation. Georg Hollander and Fatima Dhalla will talk about recent advances in the field of basic thymic stromal cell biology and inborn errors of thymic stromal cells. Illustrative clinical cases will be presented by Alexandra Kreins and Fatima Dhalla to highlight the impact of newborn screening, the importance of early recognition and treatment, the requirement for complex clinical decision making and some of the emerging areas that require further study.

After participating in this webinar, participants should be able to:
. Appreciate the complexity of the thymic stromal cell compartment
. Understand the genetic aetiologies of inborn errors of thymic stromal cell development
. Understand indications for and outcomes after thymus transplantation
. Recognise the potential impact of NBS for SCID and T-cell lymphopaenia and pathways for diagnosis of thymic defects
. Appreciate the importance of early diagnosis
