Find all the information you need about the 2022 ESID Fellowships exclusively for ESID junior members!

ESID Fellowships are designed to provide financial support to physicians or scientists in training interested in learning diagnostic/therapeutic procedures or lab techniques in the field of Primary Immunodeficiencies.

Deadlines for the 2022 applications will be 24 April and 23 October 2022.

Eligibility to apply for short and medium fellowships applications:

  • Be an ESID Junior Member (you must be under 35 or between 35 and 40 in training, but age will not be an absolute limit) 
  • Be accepted by a foreign institution for the proposed training goals (arrangements must be made by the applicant)
  • Project must start after the application deadline
Short-term fellowship - EUR 1'500 (plus travel support up to EUR 500)

DESCRIPTION:
Scholarships of EUR 1'500 plus up to EUR 500 as travel support are available for current ESID Junior members. Travel costs can be claimed after the completion of the fellowship from the secretariat.                                      

DURATION: 
Each short-term program should last between 1-2 months.

APPLICATIONS: 
The application should include: 
(a) a personal letter with a statement of career goals and plans and how to achieve those
(b) a short project plan
(c) CV with list of publications
(d) a letter of invitation from the accepting institution (mentioning any other funding you are receiving)
(e) and a letter of support from the applicant’s head of department or supervisor

Medium-term fellowship - EUR 1'000 per month (plus travel support up to EUR 500)

DESCRIPTION: 
Fellowships will be awarded to a current ESID junior member, who is a physician or a scientist in specialist training, interested in pursuing a research project in the field of primary immunodeficiencies.

FUNDING: 
ESID is awarding EUR 1'000 per month of your stay plus up to EUR 500 as travel support, to be used for the personal expenses of the candidate during laboratory or clinical research work. 
50% of the amount will be received in the beginning of the fellowship and the remainder will be paid upon the submission and approval of the final report. 

Awardees are expected to submit a complete report to ESID within a maximum of 3 months after the end of the program. Travel costs can be claimed after the completion of the fellowship from the secretariat.                
There is a possibility to extend the fellowship if needed upon presentation of valid reasons from awardee and his/her mentors.                   

DURATION: 
Each fellowship should last at least 3 months up to 6 months.

(c) curriculum vitae
(d) list of publications
(e) a letter of invitation from the accepting institution (mentioning any other funding you are receiving)
(f) and a letter of support from the applicants head of department or tutor
