Report on actions, December 2013

ESID PID Care in Development WP is currently concentrating to major upcoming actions planned for the next year 2014. First the 100th J project will be held in March 2014. Details on the meeting can be found in separate J project section. For PIDCD WP this special occasion represents a milestone in its continual effort to increase awareness on PIDs and to improve the levels of clinical care and scientific activities especially in Eastern European countries. The scientific program of 100th J project meeting documents substantial achievement in all these areas. For further details see J project special section.

The second activity, ESID biennial congress 2014, is of major importance for all ESID members and friends, but it has a particular significance for Eastern Europe due to its location in Prague. The preparation for this event is ongoing, involving ESID, INGID and IPOPI. For details, follow the in IN FOCUS section devoted to Prague congress.

Last, but not least, PIDCD WP still continues to work on Europe Immunoglobulin Map, an important and interesting activity mapping the use of immunoglobulin, with a focus on Eastern Europe and beyond, with the aim to improve a treatment of PID patients in countries with a lack of previous history. In 2013 we have updated a map and filled some missing data especially from Balkan countries. We map an important, fast and visible rise in use of SCIG in Europe, with a demonstrable spread of this form of therapy form North West to South East. We plan to run a questionnaire over all European countries for a biennial update early next year and to present new release during ESID2014 in Prague.

We are looking forward to the year 2014 and as always we welcome all your comments and suggestions.
